Pennsylvania sets iCasino revenue record of nearly $260 million in December

Pennsylvania rounded off the 2025 calendar year in style by setting a new, monthly online casino revenue record of $259.7 million in December.

Total gambling revenue for the entire Pennsylvania market topped $616.7 million during the final month of 2025. This was the second-highest monthly amount on record, just shy of November’s $623.1 million and 15.8% higher than December 2024.

Data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board showed that in addition to the record revenue among online casinos, sportsbooks saw triple-digit growth from the prior year in what they collected from bettors.

In contrast, land-based slots revenue, traditionally the state’s primary source of gambling revenue, was down year-on-year in December. This decline effectively stopped Pennsylvania from setting a new overall revenue record for the second straight month.

Online slots drive growth in Pennsylvania

Revenue from online casinos was 3.3% ahead of the prior $251.1 million record set last October. It also surpassed the previous year by 16.1% and was 6.9% ahead of November.

Online slots revenue increased by 18.5% year-on-year to $194.6 million, the single highest source of gambling revenue for the month. Internet table games revenue hiked 10.3% to $62.8 million though online poker revenue dipped 7.8% to $2.3 million.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and its online gaming partners retained top spot with $102 million in revenue. Valley Forge Casino Resort and partners were second with $71.1 million, ahead of Rivers Casino Philadelphia in third with $39 million.

Sports betting revenue rockets 288%

Turning to sports betting, revenue in this segment jumped 287.8% year-on-year to $84.8 million. This was the second-highest total in history, falling 13.7% behind the record $98.3 million collected in November 2025.

Online sports betting revenue hit $80.4 million, while $4.4 million came from land-based sportsbooks. Total handle stood at $797.4 million, 10.7% less than the previous year and 19.5% behind November.

As such, statewide hold for the month of December was 10.63%.

Looking at operators, FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino Resort remained the market leaders. They posted $38.3 million off a $283.9 million handle, leaving a hold of 13.49%.

DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows were again second with $25 million from a $245.5 million handle for a 10.18% hold. Hollywood Casino York and Fanatics Sportsbook ranked third with $4.6 million from $55.1 million, resulting in a hold of 8.35%.

Land-based slots decline hits December total

While growth was healthy in iCasinos and sports betting, the same could not be said for the land-based market. Slots revenue dipped 7.5% year-on-year to $186.8 million, while retail table games revenue only edged up 0.3% to $79.3 million.

Video gaming terminals revenue at truck stop locations was 0.6% lower at $3.4 million, and fantasy sports contests revenue fell 0.3% to $2.7 million.

Tax-wise, $255.8 million was collected for state and local governments in December. This included $115.5 million from online casinos, $35.4 million sports betting, $94.2 million land-based slots and $13.4 million table games.
