AFC championship preview: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs
After almost five months of the regular season, the Chiefs were a favorite to win Super Bowl LVII. But then Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain in last week’s playoff victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the odds shifted in response.
Now the Bengals enter Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday as a slight underdog, and the big question is just how affected Mahomes will be a week after the injury. Mahomes briefly left the game against the Jaguars, but he returned after X-rays confirmed that he hadn’t suffered a fracture.
In the Bengals, the top-seeded Chiefs face a team coming off a big road win over the Buffalo Bills last week. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns in that win.
The Chiefs were 7-1 at home during the regular season and have not lost at Arrowhead Stadium since a 24-20 defeat to the Bills in October.
