College football Week 5 odds and analysis

Virginia Tech vs. Miami

  • Spread: Virginia Tech , Miami

It’s Friday night ACC action as Virginia Tech travels to take on Miami. The Hurricanes are off to an undefeated start and are the favorites to win the ACC in college football conference odds. Cameron Ward has taken over as the betting favorite in Heisman Trophy odds after an exceptional start. Miami has won the last three meetings between these schools.

Oklahoma vs. Auburn

  • Spread: Oklahoma , Auburn
  • Moneyline: Oklahoma , Auburn

Now part of the SEC after the latest round of college football conference realignment, the Sooners are in the midst of beginning new rivalries. These programs have only met twice, with Oklahoma winning both games. This matchup will mark the end of a five-game home stand for Auburn, which will travel to face Georgia next week.

Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State

  • Spread: Oklahoma State , Kansas State
  • Moneyline: Oklahoma State , Kansas State

The Big 12 chase is expected to be competitive throughout the campaign. Oklahoma State and Kansas State are currently jockeying for second in odds to win the conference, behind Utah, and both are 3-0 so far. The Cowboys have won four of the last five in this series, taking last season’s meeting by a score of 29-21.

Wisconsin vs. USC

  • Spread: Wisconsin , USC
  • Moneyline: Wisconsin , USC

Wisconsin heads out west for a Big Ten showdown with USC. Last time out, the Badgers were hammered by visiting Alabama 42-10 to fall to 2-1. The Trojans started out with a 2-0 mark before beginning conference play with a trip to Michigan on Saturday. This will be the first meeting of the two programs since 2015, a 23-21 victory for Wisconsin.

Fresno State vs. UNLV

  • Spread: Fresno State +3, UNLV -3

Early odds to win the Mountain West conference have Boise State as a heavy favorite. UNLV and Fresno State hold down the second and third spots on the board. The winner of this one will likely be the clear leader in the chase for second place. Fresno State has won six straight meetings between these schools, including a 31-24 victory last season.

Louisville vs. Notre Dame

  • Spread: Louisville , Notre Dame
  • Moneyline: Louisville , Notre Dame
  • Over/under:

In the latest AP Top 25 poll, Louisville is 19th, with Notre Dame at 17th. The Fighting Irish bounced back from an upset loss to Northern Illinois with a dominant win over Purdue. Louisville kicked off its season at 2-0 with a pair of convincing victories. The two schools met last season, with the Cardinals picking up a 33-20 win.

North Carolina vs. Duke

  • Spread: North Carolina , Duke
  • Moneyline: North Carolina , Duke
  • Over/under:

The latest edition of this ACC rivalry will see North Carolina take a quick trip to square off with Duke. The Tar Heels and Blue Devils both opened at 3-0. North Carolina has won its last two by double digits, while Duke is coming off a pair of close wins. The Tar Heels have won five in a row over Duke, picking up a 47-45 victory last season in an overtime thriller.

Georgia vs. Alabama

  • Spread: Georgia , Alabama
  • Moneyline: Georgia , Alabama
  • Over/under:

It’s a battle of SEC heavyweights under the bright lights at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Georgia and Alabama are two of the top favorites in CFP odds to win it all. The Bulldogs held onto the top spot in the latest AP poll, while the Crimson Tide are fourth. Alabama defeated Georgia 27-24 in last season’s SEC title game, ending the playoff hopes for the Bulldogs.

Arizona vs. Utah

  • Spread: Arizona , Utah
  • Moneyline: Arizona , Utah

These two former Pac-12 programs have taken their rivalry to the Big 12. Utah has kicked off its season at 3-0 and remains the favorite to win the conference. Arizona is 2-1 following a loss to Kansas State. The Wildcats took last season’s meeting 42-18, snapping a run of six straight wins for the Utes between these conference foes.
