Kalshi currently shows Miami at a 52¢ YES price and Washington at 49¢, with more than $155,000 in trading volume on the game market. Polymarket is even tighter at roughly 51¢ Miami / 50¢ Washington, although its market has considerably less volume.

Gusto enters at 1-3 with a 3.98 ERA and 53 strikeouts for Miami. Dion counters at 1-1 with a 3.67 ERA and 41 strikeouts for Washington. MLB lists first pitch for 6:45 p.m. ET from Nationals Park on FS1.

There are a few reasons I prefer Miami at essentially a coin-flip contract price:

• Miami has been the better team overall. The Marlins enter at 69-68 compared to Washington’s 65-74 record.
• The Marlins have dominated the season series. Miami has won nine of 12 meetings heading into Monday, including six straight against Washington before the Nationals took Friday and Saturday’s games.
• Sunday showed Miami’s late-game upside. The Marlins trailed 2-0 through eight innings before scoring six times against the Washington bullpen in the ninth.
• Gusto has been serviceable. His 3.98 ERA gives Miami a reasonable chance to stay close until its offense and bullpen can decide the game.
• The traditional sportsbook market agrees that Miami should be favored. FanDuel currently lists the Marlins around -120 and Washington around +102, with the total at 8.5.

Pick: Marlins win YES, up to 52¢.

At 52 cents, a winning Miami contract pays $1 and produces 48 cents in profit. That is roughly equivalent to laying about -108 in traditional sportsbook terms.

That is actually a little cheaper than the broader sportsbook market, where Miami is around -120. In other words, Kalshi’s current contract gives you a slightly better effective price on the same basic opinion.

I would not chase the Marlins too far beyond the current number. Washington has already taken two games in this series, Dion’s 3.67 ERA is respectable, and a 52-49 Kalshi market correctly reflects a matchup with little separation.

But at 52¢ or lower, Miami is my side.
