Stop what you’re doing. The third commercial for Rob Gronkowski and FanDuel’s “Kick of Destiny” campaign has just dropped.
That’s right: We’re now a mere 12 days away from Super Bowl Sunday and the live commercial event where Gronk — who, to the best of Sports Handle’s crack team of researchers’ knowledge, is not a kicker — will attempt to split the uprights for the sportsbook. If he does, anyone who bet $5 or more on the game will split $10 million worth of free bets.
Here’s the spot, with discussion to follow.
Clearly, Kay Adams of FanDuel TV is not a corporate shill, as she was asking Gronk the tough questions at this press conference.
She asks him if he’s nervous, and Gronk asks back, full of confidence, “Nervous? Gronk? Please.”
But Adams, instead of letting this answer go, narrows her eyes and tilts her head in a classic, “Really?” pose. At this point, Gronk — who has not broken eye contact — stares down Adams. Adams then slowly shakes her head “no.” Gronk’s response? A head shake indicating “yes.”

The other spots
The second commercial in the series was an homage to 1980s-style training montages.
And the debut commercial featured Gronk — who is apparently now employed as an auto mechanic — being informed by his agent that he’s signed up for the Kick of Destiny.
“I spent my career catching the ball, but I always knew I could kick it, and now I’ll do it live in front of football fans everywhere during the Super Bowl,” Gronkowski said in a press release announcing the gambit. “With $10 million in free FanDuel bets on the line, I’m training every day to give fans something to root for and to watch the ‘Kick of Destiny’ live on national television.”
Gronk’s kick isn’t the only sportsbook promotion happening on Super Bowl Sunday; DraftKings and Molson Coors have teamed up to offer a $500,000 free-to-play pool where contestants pick from 12 multiple choice questions concerning the outcome of a commercial featuring Coors Light and Miller Lite. Whoever gets the most correct wins $100,000.
