Favorites to win the PGA Championship

Scheffler is the top betting favorite to win the PGA Championship. He has been on a tear this season, winning four events since the turn of the year, including a convincing victory at the Masters last month. He carded a -11 in that one, four strokes better than second-place finisher Ludvig Aberg

According to numbers from BetMGM Sportsbook earlier this week, Scheffler tops the charts with 26% of the overall handle and 19.7% of total tickets. Koepka is second in both categories, with 21.5% of the handle and 11.5% of tickets. He finished in a tie for 45th at the Masters and is fresh off a victory at the recent LIV Golf Singapore event.

McIlroy holds down the second spot in the current odds. He has also found recent success, winning last week’s Wells Fargo Championship with a score of -17. McIlroy is a two-time winner of the PGA Championship, coming out on top in 2012 and 2014. Schauffle finished second at the Wells Fargo at -12. He has eight top 10 finishes for the season to date in 11 appearances. His best finish at this event was a tie for 10th in 2020.

Rahm rounds out the top five in the latest lines. He has finished in a tie for 10th or better at seven LIV Golf events in 2024, and he tied for 45th at the Masters. In 2018, he booked his best PGA Championship result with a tie for fourth place.

For the remainder of the top 10 on the odds board, four finished in a tie for sixth or better at the Masters: Aberg (second), Homa (tie third), Morikawa (tie third), and DeChambeau (tie sixth). Morikawa previously won this event in 2020. Niemann is the lone outlier of the final group of five, as he wrapped up in a tie for 22nd place at the Masters.

PGA Championship course and weather report

The Valhalla Golf Club will play as a par-71 over 7,609 yards. There are expected to be 156 golfers in the field, with the top 70 and ties advancing following the first two rounds of play. This venue hosted the 2014 PGA Championship. McIlroy won that one with a score of -16, one stroke ahead of second-place finisher Phil Mickelson

The forecast calls for a possibility of precipitation for the first three days of the event, with the biggest threat looming on Friday with an 80% chance. Barring any delays, it’s expected to be clear skies as the final round plays out on Sunday. High temperatures for all four days are forecasted to be in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
