How PrizePicks Works

PrizePicks gives customers the chance to pick player statistics and combine multiple picks together into one entry for a higher potential payout. Generally, you’ll pick whether the player will exceed or fall short of their statistic such as Chet Holmgren to score more or less than 17.5 points.

PrizePicks offers a Power Play option where it provides a board of player statistics for that day’s matchups. You must grab at least two picks and can combine up to six picks into an entry for a better payout.

The Power Play means all picks in the entry must hit while providing a generous payout if the picks are correct. Meanwhile, you can alternately select Flex Play, which essentially provides a smaller payout but allows you to miss some of your picks in the entry.

We’ll walk through an example below using Friday’s board of player statistics.

The NBA is one of the best leagues on PrizePicks because there are so many types of entries you can make on each player. For example, your Power Play could include a pick for a player to score more than X points, a player to have more than X rebounds and other picks all in one entry.

Here are my Power Play picks for the Friday game between the Denver Nuggets and the Boston Celtics:

Jayson Tatum less than 28 points

Nikola Jokic less than 26.5 points

Michael Porter Jr. + Jayson Tatum less than 6 combined 3-point shots made

Some handy statistics show both Tatum and Jokic average less than the points shown on PrizePicks when they play each other, respectively. Therefore, we can hope based on averages that they score less than their posted statistics.

For some extra value, I added in the 3-point shots made combo. Porter Jr. averages 2.4 3-pointers per game while Tatum averages 2.5 in his career, leading me to select the two will make less than six combined.

I expect this game to be exceptionally competitive, especially as both teams are relatively healthy at this point of the season. After the NBA cracked down on sitting out games, we’ve seen more star-studded matchups this season.

The Power Play means all three of the picks in your entry have to hit for the full payout. In the above screenshot, a $100 entry would render a $500 payout and the entry funds returned.

However, PrizePicks may give you the option for a Flex Play, albeit not as good of an offer. If you select Flex Play, all three correct profits $225 and two out of three correct offers $125.
