UFC 292 Odds: Betting Lines & Props For Sterling vs. O’Malley

145

The UFC is in Boston this Saturday, Aug. 19, for UFC 292 headlined by bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling defending his title against challenger Sean O’Malley . Sportsbooks have released UFC 292 betting odds, with multiple betting lines for the entire fight card.

In the co-main event at UFC 292, women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili defends her belt against Amanda Lemos . Below, we’ll take a closer look at all the betting odds at top sports betting sites for Saturday’s UFC pay-per-view event.

UFC 292 odds for Sterling-O’Malley

Aljamain Sterling vs. Sean O’Malley

Sterling (23-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) is just three months removed from his last title defense, a gritty five-round effort that resulted in a split-decision win over former two-division champion Henry Cejudo in May. Sterling suggested several times that this was a shorter turnaround than he’d prefer, and he wasn’t entirely sure that his body would be healed in time to jump right back into another five-round title fight.

Sterling’s overall health and physical readiness could prove to be the biggest variable in this fight. In pure skill terms, this matchup favors the champion. O’Malley (16-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) has surprised a lot of people of late, and his upset victory over former champ Petr Yan last October proved that he’s more than just a fan-favorite flash in the pan. But we’ve yet to see him face an opponent with as tricky or suffocating a ground game as the one Sterling is known for.

Maintaining the distance and fighting at his preferred pace and range will be key for O’Malley, but that’s easier said than down against a fighter as crafty and experienced as Sterling. It’s also unclear how O’Malley will fare in a five-round title fight, as he’s yet to go more than three rounds in his pro career.

UFC 292 odds for Weili-Lemos

Zhang Weili vs. Amanda Lemos

Weili (23-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) looked dominant when she recaptured the women’s strawweight title with a submission win over Carla Esparza last year. Her only UFC losses came in back-to-back fights with former champ Rose Namajunas, and the second of those was a close battle that could have easily gone her way. Weili is a rare mix of power and speed, and when she gets moving forward behind her strikes, she’s extremely dangerous. She’s also proven her toughness in a couple of memorable wars, and her cardio allows her to fight at a very high pace for five full rounds.

All of that adds up to a major challenge for Lemos (13-2-1 MMA, 7-2 UFC), who’s facing the toughest test of her career here. She earned a title shot with a relatively modest two-fight streak, but she’s yet to beat anyone of Weili’s caliber. There simply aren’t many holes in the champion’s game for her to exploit, and speed could well be an issue. Lemos has a solid all-around game but isn’t necessarily spectacular at any one thing.
