Dodgers look to snap losing streak

During a three-game sweep to the Reds, the Dodgers went hitless in 22 at-bats with runners in scoring position. It prompted manager Dave Roberts to describe the team’s offense as lifeless.

With the sweep, the Dodgers extended their losing streak to five — the team’s longest since 2019. The Dodgers can break the streak Tuesday against the Mets.

Also on Tuesday, the Braves’ lineup will adjust to life without Ronald Acuña Jr. The Braves announced Monday that Acuña will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

At BetMGM, the Braves’ odds in the futures market jumped considerably to +800. The Dodgers remain the World Series favorites with odds of +300.

Mavs eye trip to NBA Finals

Bolstered by clutch play from Luka Doncic, the Mavericks have raced out to a 3-0 series lead against the Timberwolves.

Doncic’s 3-pointer in the waning seconds of Game 2 gave the Mavs a sweep of the opening two games in Minneapolis. Doncic, the NBA’s top scorer, followed it up with 33 points in a crushing Wolves loss on Sunday night.

The Mavs can clinch a trip to the NBA Finals with a win on Tuesday night. The Mavs are -3000 favorites to win the series over the Wolves (+1300). In the futures market, Dallas has odds of +190 at bet365 to win the NBA title. In NBA history, teams that have fallen down 0-3 have gone 0-155.

The Celtics outlasted the Pacers on Monday night to sweep Indiana in four games. Boston completed fourth-quarter comebacks in three of the four wins. The Celtics have odds of -230 to win the NBA title.

Rangers look to seize control in ECF

In many respects, the Florida Panthers have dominated the Eastern Conference Finals through three games. The Panthers peppered Igor Shesterkin with a flurry of shots in Sunday’s third period only to see the Rangers win in overtime.

The Rangers prevailed in sudden death for a second straight game to take a 2-1 series lead. The Blueshirts clinched the victory when Alex Wennberg deflected a shot past Sergei Bobrovsky with 5:35 left in overtime.

With Game 5 back in New York, the Panthers face immense pressure on Tuesday at home. The Panthers are -170 favorites at ESPN BET to even the series at two games apiece.

However, the Rangers are now favored to represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup Finals. At BetMGM, New York is -175 to prevail over Florida (+145) in the series.

Swiatek takes on Osaka at the French

Iga Swiatek has waltzed through the clay court season with an incredible 22-1 record on the dirt. Swiatek, the two-time defending French Open champion, will face Naomi Osaka in Wednesday’s second round.

Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champ, is still returning to form after a lengthy absence. Swiatek has odds of -2100 at FanDuel to oust Osaka (+1000).

Moreover, Swiatek is favored against the field to win the tournament. At FanDuel, she has odds of -180 to prevail in Paris. Swiatek is the only player in the futures market with odds below +500.

Her main threats will come from Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, who have odds of +550 and +1000, respectively.

On the men’s side, Rafael Nadal bowed out in a straight-set loss to Alexander Zverev. Nadal, a 14-time French Open champion, may have played his last-ever match at the event. Nadal plans to retire at season’s end.

Zverev remains the fourth choice at +470 behind Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic.

UT opens bid for NCAA Baseball title

Northern Kentucky outfielder Treyvin Moss knocked in five runs against Youngstown State on May 25, leading the Norse to a 23-5 win in the Horizon League Tournament final. The win sent Northern Kentucky to the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Norse enter the tournament as a massive underdog to No. 1 overall seed Tennessee. The Vols defeated LSU on Sunday to win the program’s fifth SEC Tournament title. Tennessee also had the tournament’s top seed in 2022 but lost to Notre Dame in the Super Regionals.

The Vols open at DraftKings as +500 favorites to win the College World Series. They’re followed by four other SEC teams in Texas A&M, Arkansas, LSU, and Kentucky. Remarkably, the five SEC squads are the only teams in the field with odds of +1000 or shorter.
